Thin me, fat me, healthy me

I went looking through old photos of me at my “thinnest”, me at my “fattest” and recent photos, mostly out of curiosity. Sometimes I forget how large I once was, but I also forget about the time I was sickeningly thin too. So I found a few interesting shots and decided to do a post that I can come back to as a reminder every time this curiosity creeps back.

“Thin Me”

Let’s start with some photos of me at my “thinnest” in 2007…

I had my major growth spurt around the end of year 9 in high school, which was 2006. I went from being “the fat kid” in school, to being borderline anorexic. At this point in my life, I had convinced myself that the idea of sugar made me feel sick. To the point where it really did. So after a long life of high sugar consumption, I was finally sugar-free. Combined with 15 year old hormones etc etc I ended up losing so much weight that my doctor told me I desperately needed to gain weight. I believe I was about 70kg here (and 183 cm tall, ie. 6 foot 0 inches).

“Fat Me”

Sari (right) and I (left), yet again at that same party in 2010. Guess this was about the “fattest” I’d been, around the 110 kg mark.

I gained some weight back through 2007 during the enormous amount of 18th bday parties that were on. I didn’t manage to lose that weight by 2010. Then all the 21st bday parties happened and as you can see above, the weight stacked on until I reached a hefty 110kg or so.

“Healthy Me”

Sari (right) and I (left) today, once again at the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden for our friend Ash’s bday (yep, bit of a tradition).

I’m certainly not at my “ideal” weight yet. I still have a “pot belly” and struggle with weight fluctuations that generally line up with my carb intake. But I’d rather be around the 90kg mark where I am now than the awfully thin (for my body type) 70kg mark or the obese, unfit 110kg mark.

I imagine I’ll gradually add to this post, but I wanted to get these up while they’re fresh in my mind (and still on my PC desktop) for invaluable future reference.

Hi, I'm Lee. I am by no means a medical or nutritional professional, I am just a real life keto "success story", meaning someone who has successfully lost a lot of weight using the ketogenic diet. My information is often non-technical which I feel is better for most of my readers as most of the information available online for ketogenic dieting is too technical, too confusing and doesn't just "get to the point" and show people how to simply lose weight via ketogenic dieting.
